The year was 1978 and a shy 15-year-old boy approached his first customer of the day. “Can I help you find a Christmas tree for your family?” he asked. Who would have
thought that all these years later he would still be asking that same question?

It surprises many people to learn that Doug Bennett of Bennett’s Best Christmas Trees
and Pumpkins has been in the Christmas tree industry since the age of 15. Doug spent
his teens working on a local Christmas tree lot every winter. He developed a strong work
ethic and a passion for Christmas trees.

In 1997 that passion turned into Bennett’s Best Christmas Trees. That year Doug and his
wife, Deidra, opened four pumpkin and Christmas tree lots. Doug’s goal in those early
years was to provide the freshest, highest quality Christmas trees at a reasonable price.
He wanted his lots to be clean, safe, friendly, and family-focused. Doug brought together
a team of highly qualified people from all over the country to manage his lots. Some
of the onsite managers and employees that started with Doug in 1997 are with him still
today. Every year customers come from all over to catch up, share photos, and select the
tree that is just right for their family celebration.

Freshness is important to the Bennetts and they do everything possible to make sure that
their trees are as fresh as possible. They do this by purchasing from small farmers who
harvest their trees as close to the shipping date as possible. Once the tree is on the lot it is
stored in a cool, damp, covered area and ALWAYS displayed in water. Before your tree
leaves the lot it is given a “fresh cut” to optimized water absorption.

Doug also wanted to provide high quality, fresh wreaths and garland, so he set up his
own wreath and garland making area on one of the lots to make sure it was as fresh as
possible. Customers can choose from very small, 6-inch wreaths to very large, 38-inch
wreaths. Beautiful Cedar Garland and Noble Fir mixed with Cedar Garland are available
by the foot.

Today Bennett’s Best consists of five Christmas tree lots across Southern California.
Each with a wide variety of tree types and sizes to ensure there is just the right tree for
your family, whether it be a tall skinny tree, a short fat tree, a regal Victorian tree or even
the simple “Charlie Brown” tree. The helpful staff at Bennett’s Best is here to help you
